Boatlift Prof
This Patented version of Boatlift is particularly designed for use on the large fish farm platforms built for offshore use. The Boatlift is connected to these platforms to give a secure and safe landing for servicing exposed farms where landing with small vessels are difficult or impossible in rough weather.
The Boatlift hoists the servicebåt out off the water to a safe position well above the waves, and thus eliminates the dangerous everyday prospect of manoeuvring, landing and securing a boat against a sharp edged steel structure.
Main advantages
• To be able get safely on to the platforms in any kind of weather, singlehanded.
• To bring small cargoes, equipments and extra personnel safely onto platform without lifting and reaching from awkward positions.
• Avoid harms, causalities, and damage to workers and boat, while approaching the platforms in rough weather.
• Reduced labour cost as single watches is possible and safe at weekends and vacations.
• Avoid damage to service boat during landing and mooring, avoid possibility of rope/moorings breakage and boat drifting off.
Cost Reduction
The expectance for cost reduction due to installing a boatlift will depend on many factors. A fish farmer with several grow-out sites in rough locations might be able to reduce labour cost for double shifts in rough weather and at weekends with annual savings equivalent of the cost for the entire boatlift.
The boatlift is developed and built in close co-operation with Østerbø Maskin in Sogn, Norway. The prototype is now being tested in a pilot project at E. Karstensen’s Fish farm in Florø, on the extreme west of Norway. This fish farm is located at a stormy site, open to the Fjords and the North Sea, an excellent site for a full-scale trial run.
The National Research council of Norway supports the project, and SunTech in Florø do the mechanical approval certification of the system.
